I’m thrilled that Mercury Soul is returning to Grace Cathedral on November 7! We’ve got an all-star lineup of musicians, DJs, and visual artists coming
The magical intersection between music and technology is a central tenet of Mason Bates’ work, from his Grammy-winning opera The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs to his work as a composer, DJ and curator. This fall, the Metropolitan Opera opens their season with The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, while his electro-acoustic symphonic works continue to be championed worldwide. Bates also creates groundbreaking projects that reach beyond the concert hall, such as the animated film Philharmonia Fantastique and its education arm Sprite’s World, now a cornerstone of digital education at the Kennedy Center where he served as the nation’s first composer-in-residence. As a DJ, he produces thrilling shows merging electronica, classical music, and immersive production in in spectacular venues through his outreach organization Mercury Soul.
